1st week in Florida!!

Hello yall!

Holy cow this week has been crazy!!!!
Florida is fantastic! The people here are nice! The weather is nice(bluueeee sky baby). My companion is great. Things are great!
I'll just go through and give a run down of this week.

Monday- Me and elder efros woke up at 4:00 in the morning because we had to leave the Mtc at 5:00. Early I know... Hahahahah. So we woke up and rode the train to the airport. Anywho, long story short we finally flew out at like 10:00. The flight was good. Kinda bumpy but good! When we got to the airport where president and sister berry were waiting! They are so awesome and sweet. They are from draper utah, right next to the temple. They have a bunch of kids and grandkids. After we got all our luggage and such we went down to a church in Orlando to have a welcoming dinner. Some of the sisters from that ward cooked bbq and holy cow it was soooooooo good. In fact, pretty much all the food down here is delicious. Hmmm, I can taste my lovely figure slipping away every moment I'm down here. Hahahahah anyways, after that dinner we went back to the Mission home to stay the night. At that point I was pretty exhausted so I just went pretty much strait to bed.

Tuesday- Tuesday morning we woke up and we then were shipped over to the church again. We did a bunch of super boring training stuff and then after we got to meet our new companions. Elder Davis is pretty sweet! He's from Spanish fart Utah, graduated from Spanish fart high school in 2014, He loves huntin, n fishin, n shootin, n hikin. He basically grew up In America fork canyon. We get along great!! Anyways, after we met our trainers and stuff, we got assigned our area which is Titusville! It's a little town near Kennedy space center! It's well.... Kinda a hood I guess. Well it's a lot more hooded than any part of Utah. Hahahahah anyways, it's a pretty great place. There are definitely two truths about Florida. One: everyone here is old. Two:it's hot and sunny. Hahahahah. I like it though, we get all sorts of fun toys, like ipads(which are fantastic) and bikes. It's pretty fun! Tuesday night we taught a lesson to an older member couple in Cracker Barrel. It's was interesting, add together the fact that they Are old and then add the fact that Cracker Barrel is super noisy and your gunna have a bad time. It was fun to try though. After that we also taught a lesson to some less active members the castios. They are super funny and cool. There's only three of them there: John, his wife and his Puerto Rican mother. They said that they would be coming to church on Sunday so hopefully they will.

Wednesday- well Wednesday was my first "full day" it was pretty bomber. We went less active huntin. We spent all day searching for less actives and where they are and if they had moved or not. It was a lot of biking. Now about my bike.... Hahhahaha. Well it's a POS. Since I'm only going to be here for a little while they just let me use one of the mission loner bikes. Come to find out, they don't even have a bike that is my right size. I should be riding a extra large frame because I'm so tall, well they biggest they had was a medium frame. It looks like a giant on a little kids bike. Hahahahah Yeah, it makes me a little mad because I Know I'm gunna be wrecking my knees by riding this for very long. Ain't nobody got time for that. I tried talking to the mission president and well he basically said to suck it up. Hahahahahha, so I guess I'll just make do. Anywho, we just spent the majority of the day knocking on doors trying to find investigator, less actives, etc. it was good! We found two new potential investigators and found out that the majority of the less active members had moved. Sad but I guess it happens a lot down here.

Thursday- Thursday we taught a lesson to an investigator, Clarissa, and her family. They are soo nice and awesome. They just happened to bump in the missionary's on the street and wanted to hear more. This was probably the 5th lesson that she had been taught so she knew elder Davis really well. We taught her about the gospel of Jesus Christ and the importance that is plays in our everyday life. It went really well. We asked her to pray about being baptized into this church and she said that she would so we'll see how it goes.

Friday- Friday'stc are the missions planning days. A lot of Friday is spent in the apartment planning for the week. Honestly it felt pretty weird to do it hahaha. I felt almost guilty. Anyways, after we had planned everything out for next week we went down to see a member of the ward who is paralyzed from the waist down: Brother Sam Woodard. He's a way way way cool guy he has a super strong testimony even though he has been through so much. He was in a accident when he was 26 or something like that. Before that he actually served a mission in the Utah north mission. One of his areas was actually bountiful! It's such a small world.

Saturday was a crazy busy day. We woke up like normal and did our study's and such. It after that we had a church picnic that we went to. It was cool! It was pretty good because there were probably just as many non members as their were non members. We got to talk to a lot of people. This ward is awesome, it's a little older(ok, a lot older) but that doesn't matter that much. After the appointment we went and taught 5 different lessons. It was busy. We had to hustle to make them all on time. It was fun.

Sunday was pretty good. Church was fun! We got Clarissa and her family to make it to Sunday school and to the third hour. She didn't make it in time to get to sacrament, so I think our lessons this week are going to focus on why sacrament meeting is so important. Offer church we had more meetings. Yup, pretty much what I expected.... Being at the church for super super long time. Oh well, such is the life of a missionary.

This mission is pretty weird I guess. There are quite a few things that are a lot different than I thought they would be. For example, music. I always it was motab and classical music. Nope. Hahaha, the mission president basically lets the missionary's make the choice for themselves on what they listen to. Everything from rock to well everything. He just told us that if we can feel the spirit while listening to it, it's alright. It's freaking great!!! Music is my life, so being able to hear most if not all of my favorite songs is fantastic.

Another thing is that we get iPads. They are the single greatest tool we have. Our area book is all digital now, and it make tracking people down soooooo much easier. We have all their phone numbers, addresses, lesson reports, etc right at our finger tips. It also lets us schedule appointments and then sends the investigators an email saying when we will be there. It's fantastic.

We get a 50/50 split with the sisters on a car. One week on, one week off. Pretty bomber.

Anyways, that's pretty much it! It so good to finally get to work instead of sittin around. Florida's  great! I'd love to hear from anyone. My email is: jheiner@myldsmail.net

Love ya!

'I hope they call me on a mission, AGAIN, When I grow a foot or two'

Hey Everybody!
Hope things are going well in your lives.
Just though I'd give you a overview of the exciting things that happened this week. I'm here on week 5, next week I'll be able finally leave this place and get into the real world. So freaking excited it!!
Anyways, here's whats what.

Wednesday- Hosting! This past Wednesday we got to hot the new missionary as they come to the mtc. It's such a cool experience!!. As i mentioned last week, A good friend of mine was coming on of Wednesday so the opportunity to maybe sorta get a chance to host him was pretty exciting!  well Wednesday rolls around and lo and behold, I got to host him! It was so awesome! I was turned around talking to another missionary when all of sudden I hear " HEINER!" and I turn around and there is Harrison in the middle of the road running full speed at me. ahahah it was pretty freaking awesome! long story short, we got to talk and I got to see his family for little bit which was soo cool! I love the Mayer Family! Definitely one of the highlights of my week.

Thursday- nothing much happend, just the usually study Portuguese, teach, etc. my Portuguese is coming along. I'm definitely not nearly anywhere close to fluent, but I can kinda sorta speak so that's good!

Friday- same as Thursday.. Except they had pizza for dinner! which may not seem like a big deal, but here at the Provo prison, it's like the highlight of everyone's week.

Saturday- Same a friday - minus the pizza. yup, nothing too exciting happens here

Sunday was cool! I got to bless the sacrament bread which was awesome! You have to do it in Portuguese so getting all the pronunciations correct is a little difficult. all is good though!
We also had the BYU mens chorus come and sing to us! It was pretty good! elder klime was in it last semester so it was funny to see him fangirl over it. I don't think i've ever seen someone so happy to sit through a devotional than him. It was good to see him be so happy about it.

Monday- found out Monday that no one in our district received our visas to go to Brazil and therefore we would all be temporarily reassigned. No one really knew when we would find out where we were going but...... me and elder efros did some digging and figured out that we (me and elder efros) are.. wait for it... SERVING IN THE ORLANDO FLORIDA MISSION. I could not be more excited to go and serve the people in flordia. it's pretty cool when they reassign missionary, they go through the whole process again of having a apostle pick out which mission we need to be in. I know that this mission is where the lord needs me to be and I'll get to Brazil when the lord needs me to be there.

There are two other sisters in our district that are going to be us serve in florida with us, and then the rest of the district has no idea when/where they will be serving. they are all dying right now. Especially elder klime, I feel like he might strangle me. hahahahahahah so If you never hear from me again.... well you know who to blame.

Anyways, I'd better get going! since this is the last week of my time at the mtc, I should get a little time later in the week to to email again. We should see though

Anyways! Love ya!
If there's anything I can do for anyone, don't be afraid to let me know

The Big G.C., A New District and The Jonas Brothers

WAAAZZZUUPPP everybody?

Just another crazy week here at the MTC, Not really much has changed, I've spent quite a bit of time studying and such. You know, the norm.  Here just a basic run down of the week:

Tuesday: spend all day in class, learning portuguese. I can tell that the language is coming... slowly, but it's  coming. Tuesday afternoon we had some leadership meeting and such. I never knew that by sitting all day you could be exhausted. It seems like every night I go to be completely pooped. Tuesday night we had a devotional where Elder Teh from the seventy came to speak to us. It was Awesome! His wife gave and awesome talk about how when we feel like there is too much on our shoulders, that the savior can help us through sorting through it all. I definitely can recognize how the savior does that being in the mtc.

Wednesday:More class and such. We also got a new district of missionaries! In this new district their are 9 elders and 4 sisters. They are all so awesome and I can definitely tell that they are going to be one of the best districts in the zone. It amazing to see the new missionary come in at noon and then by like 9:30 they are already speaking the language and fully immersed in learning the the gospel and the language. It's so cool!

Thursday: More of just classes and such. We taught one of our "investigators" again. It was a super cool and good lesson. We went in their prepared to teach the plan of salvation, but when we actually got in their we ended up teaching the first vision. Even though we didn't go through what we had prepared, it was cool to see that the lord helped us improvise and adapt to teaching the 1 vision. It was awesome!!!

Friday: The pre- General Conference day. Alot of friday was spent trying to figure out how, when, and where we were going to watch general conference. We also got to teach in TRC. TRC is cool because they bring in real people from the church for the missionary to practice teaching too. Well, thats what they said anyways.... every companionship teaches 2 lessons, to two different people,. The first one was to a returned missionary from sandy. It went really well, and I felt I could understand pretty much everything he was saying (pretty unusual). The second one was truely unreal though. We get to the Trc room, and we knock on the door and this woman obviously from brazil open the door. At first we were like oh! this is awesome! we get to finaly speak to a real brazilian. As we are getting to know her we find out that she actually isn't a member. Both me and elder efros just kinda look at each other and are like "Oh crap, our lesson is totally talking about how General Conference can help us answer our questions, but if she's not a member she probably never even hear of General Conference." We always begin our lesson with a prayer, so as we are praying, I pretty much am having a little heart attack on what we going to teach. After the prayer, we just start asking her  what she knew about the church and stuff when she says, "Oh yeah guys, I forgot to mention that I'm going to be baptized in like two days". I felt the biggest sense of relief ever. hahahaha the rest of the lesson when awesome and turns out that she's up here in utah for general conference. over all it was a way cool experience.

Saturday and Sunday: THE BIG G.C.

General Conference at the MTC is such a cool experience!!! They gather all the missionaries in the main gym and everybody watches it together. It's awesome! You can totally feel the spirit the entire time. Here are some of my favorite points from general Conference.

Boyde K packers- A cookie and a kiss. That one made me laugh pretty hard. I loved that entire talk and how he addressed how special Temple marriage really is. It something that not alot of people in the world don't fully understand. Definitely made me reconsider how I am going to teach that in future.

L witon Clayton- The story about the little girl who's plane crashed and she found her way to safety. loved loved loved this talk. Really helped  me understand that sometimes, even though we don't have a necessarily perfect knowledge of what we are doing 100 percent is true, that if we keep on trucking on that we can eventually get that testament that it is true and that what we are doing in the things that the lord wants us to do. I loved it this talk.

I felt that this entire General Conference was so centered on families. Its so amazing that they don't plan out all of the topics of the conference. The prophet just kinda gives the speakers free reign on what to talk about and then through personal revelation, heavenly fathers helps them decided what to talk about. This really is proof the What these inspired men from god are saying is really gods words and not their own.

Sunday night was very... Interesting. Every Sunday night we have a devotional with the entire mtc. they never tell anyone what its going to be or who will be speaking, they just tell everyone to be in the gym at a certain time. Well this week was... well the only way i can describe it is that is was BYU's a Capella Jonas Brothers aka Vocal Point. As soon as they walk on the the stage, I could have sworn it was some kind of Jonas brothers concert. It felt like every sister in the entire room was screaming or clapping with so much excitement. it was defiantly not my favorite. they sang a bunch of music, most of it defeinlay to in the approved music for missionary... yeah, it was weird.

just some things that are going to be happening this next week.

On wensdays, our district gets to host the new missionarys! This is awesome because my bestest friend in the whole wide word is going the becoming on wends day, hopefully i get to help him in the first few hours at the mtc.

Next week we will get our reassignments. Since the LA Consulate is super slow, we will all probably get assigned stateside for at least a transfer. It's all good! this way, We get to pretty much have Two Missions instead of just one! I'm Super Super pumped about it!

We really don't have too much time left here, (thank goodness). I'll be sad to leave, but at the same time it'll be nice to finally see the real world again.

Till Next time!

Love,
Elder Heiner
Attached is a picture of some of the elders form our zone. They really love the Chips and salsa Mom!
